This year's Salon Privé features a Porsche concours as well special displays from McLaren, several significant Ferraris and Alpine's event debut. Here's what to look out for
Salon Privé is an event that combines a traditional British garden party atmosphere with some of the rarest and most exotic cars to ever grace Tarmac.
Amongst the garden furniture and Champagne glasses, finely dressed men and women peruse the day’s four-wheeled curiosities. There are different things to see on each of the four days, so here’s our preview featuring some upcoming highlights of Salon Privé 2018.
- Top 10 cars of Silverstone Classic 2018
- 947 cars turn up for Beaulieu Simply Japanese
- Ferraris for sale on AutoClassics
Salon Privé runs from Thursday 30 August to Saturday 1 September with each day sporting a different theme. The exquisite Blenheim Palace is the venue, once home to Winston Churchill; 2018 will mark the first time this event has taken place on the stately home's famed cricket lawn.
The Thursday is the day of the Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance, which will see some of the most pristine concours cars gather to compete for the top prize. An expert judging panel, lead by Derek Bell MBE, will scrutinise these million-pound cars and present the winner with the coveted trophy.
Friday is Ladies Day where big hats, flash jewellery, and beautiful dresses punctuate the proceedings. Jazz music and Champagne in the sunshine (fingers crossed) create a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the cars on show.
Porsche celebrates 70 years in 2018 and so Salon Privé has dedicated the Saturday to the brand. The themed 'Concours Masters day' will see some of the most iconic Porsche sports cars in the brand’s history judged by a team Porsche experts and collectors from all over the world.
