Brooklands New Year's Day Classic Gathering
Brooklands, Weybridge, Surrey. 9am to 4pm
The best-known and best-attended of the UK's New Year's Day events. Everyone is welcome, with adults charged £13.50, 5-16-year-olds £7 each.
Along with hundreds of cars on display, you'll also get to see the famous banking, the newly uncovered original start-finish straight, the museum and the many automotive and aeronautic displays around the site.

Stony Stratford, near Milton Keynes, Bucks. 10.30am to 2pm
This one has quietly grown over recent years, and is enjoyed by those in the know for its relaxed atmosphere and wide variety of cars and motorcycles on display. Anyone is welcome to bring a classic vehicle – exhibitors can make a voluntary donation (£5 is recommended) towards the local Willen Hospice charity.
Pre-1940 classics are displayed around the Market Square, while later classics park along the High Street and Cofferidge Close. At midday, engines are fired up for a 'Minute's Noise', this year in honour of racing driver Jim Clark, who died in 1968.
Entry is free for spectators but there will be collections for the Willen Hospice. More information on the event on the Vintage Stony website.
