Singer DLS to make public North American debut at Pebble Beach

Singer's reimagined Porsche 911 'Dynamics and Lightweighting Study' will make its first public appearance Stateside during Monterey Car Week

Singer Vehicle Design will give the reimagined Dynamics and Lightweighting Study (DLS) Porsche 911 its North American debut at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next weekend.

Developed in conjunction with Williams Advanced Engineering, the highly anticipated ‘restomod’ Singer DLS made its world debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

More Porsche 911 restomods...

A little over one month since its first appearance, the Singer DLS is heading for the concept lawn display at Pebble Beach, with a private viewing on Thursday, August 23 followed by a public showing on Saturday, August 26.

Its American debut in Monterey is something of a homecoming, with Singer based further down the US West Coast in Los Angeles.

Regular client Scott Blattner commissioned Singer to rework his 1990 Porsche 964 into a lighter, high performance variant, leading Singer to involve Williams in developing new restoration and modification options to be used on future vehicles.

Its flat-six engine has been reworked by Williams, cranking out 500bhp at a high-revving 9000rpm. So too have the aerodynamics, every square inch of bodywork run through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to improve stability and drag.

In short, it’s the most advanced and meticulously designed restomod Porsche 911 ever made, earning it a place on the Pebble Beach concept lawn next to newer models being debuted by manufacturers.

‘This year marks a series of milestones for Singer Vehicle Design,’ said Rob Dickinson, founder and creative director for Singer. ‘Not only are we celebrating our 10th year of business, but we have delivered our 100th commission and are now able to present the results of the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study.

‘We are humbled and honored to be shown upon the world stage at the Pebble Beach Concours – marking a continued global presence for Singer.’

It may face new competition for the title of greatest Porsche 911 however, as Porsche is expected to debut a restomod of its own at Pebble Beach. Dubbed ‘Project Gold’, a 993-generation Turbo S has undergone a full rebuild since early last year, with its launch date set for August 24, the Friday of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
