Simply Ford show returns to Beaulieu for 2018

More than 750 cars already confirmed for the National Motor Museum's Simply Ford event, with the highlight a celebration of 50 years of the Ford Escort

Set to mark half a century since the first Ford Escort rolled off the Dagenham production line, examples of every generation of the family favourite are set to take pride of place at the National Motor Museum for Simply Ford on Sunday, May 6.

Fleets of Ford Escorts of all trim levels and body styles will descend upon the New Forest to park up on the Beaulieu Events Arena, with more than 1500 vehicles expected to join the diverse display. From the affordable runabouts of the last five decades to tyre-abusing rally and race winning giants, the complete Escort story will be showcased like never before.

Any incarnation of the humble Escort, from any of its six generations, is welcome to take part in Simply Ford. No matter if it’s tuned to the hilt or fully original with patina – Beaulieu want to see it!

Rally enthusiasts will get the opportunity to enjoy an up close view of the National Motor Museum’s own 1981 Ford Escort RS1800. This very car was successfully campaigned by rally legend Ari Vatanen and charged to second place during the 1981 RAC Rally.

If that isn’t quite enough clout for you, other historic Fords from the museum collection include a 1914 Ford Model T and a 1986 Sierra RS Cosworth.

Last year’s event proved to be unmissable, attracting 3000 visitors and more Fords than you could shake a Halewood gearstick at. Nearly 40 owners’ groups and clubs have already booked for 2018’s Simply Ford show, with more than 750 vehicles already confirmed between them.

Besides providing the opportunity for like-minded enthusiasts to meet up and discuss all things blue-oval, other event highlights include a celebration for the humble Mondeo, not to mention the Anglia and legendary Transit. You want Mustang and Focus ST or RS200 and Racing Puma? You can expect to see them all at Simply Ford.

To create discussion and debate, rally participants and Beaulieu visitors can vote on their favourite Ford of the show with the People’s Choice Award. The winner will receive a Beaulieu trophy.

For those driving Fords into Beaulieu to take part in the show, participant tickets are £10 an adult, £5 a child (aged 5-16) if bought in advance online, or £12 an adult and £6 a child on-the-door. All other visitors can buy a general admission ticket to Beaulieu at the standard attraction prices. For advance tickets or more information see the official Simply Ford webpage.
