Silverstone Auctions to host 2018 inaugural Ferrari sale
Dates have been confirmed for nine auctions throughout 2018, including a new dedicated Ferrari sale at Silverstone circuit
Silverstone Auctions has unveiled its 2018 calendar, and the nine competition and classic car auctions include a new sale dedicated to Ferraris.
Taking place at the Silverstone Circuit in collaboration with the Ferrari Owners’ Club, this event will start on May 18, ahead of the following day’s annual May Sale.
Nick Whale, Silverstone Auctions managing director, said: ‘The Ferrari Sale is a brand new auction, and one we’re certain will be very well received by both vendors and collectors alike.’
He continued: ‘We’re very proud to be collaborating with the Ferrari Owners’ Club of Great Britain, one of the most expert and respected international car clubs in the world. We’ll be looking to source the very finest and collectible Ferraris to offer at this special, inaugural event.’
The first Silverstone Auctions sale of the year will take place at the Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. A limited number of road and track ‘best of breed’ vehicles will be offered through the dedicated competition sale, followed by a classic car sale, on February 23-25.
Following the dedicated Ferrari Sale, Silverstone Auctions will stage its flagship event at the world-famous Silverstone Classic, with a dedicated competition car sale on July 19 preceding a two-day classic and sports car auction on July 21-22.
Another revamped sale for 2018 takes place at a new venue, when the specialist auction house relocates to the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Warwickshire for the Porsche Sale, in collaboration with Porsche Club GB. The Porsche Sale will commence on September 29, with the new September Sale taking place on September 30.
Returning to the huge Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC on November 10-11, Silverstone Auctions will conclude 2018 by hammering away some of the most prestigious cars around.
‘I’m delighted that we’re once again hosting auctions at some of the UK’s most high-profile classic car events,’ concluded Nick. ‘We have limited spaces available at all of our sales, so anyone looking to enter a vehicle should contact us early to secure a space.’
Silverstone achieved a total sales figure in excess of £24 million by the end of 2017, with several new world-record auction prices – but this year is shaping up to be its most exciting yet.
