What to see at this weekend’s Shelsley Walsh XK70 Jaguar Festival
The headline cars, guests and the world record-breaking attempt all set for this weekend's anniversary celebration
Over 700 cars will join Group C sportscars, special guests and a run of competitive hillclimb sprints at this weekend’s XK70 Jaguar Festival, celebrating the marque’s famous engine.
Across June 9/10, it is hoped XK70 will set a world record for the most XK-powered cars gathering in one place when 700 descend onto Shelsley Walsh hillclimb in Worcestershire – beating the 600 cars that attended XK60 in 2008.

The most high-profile cars will be a collection of Group C racers plus the XJ220C that, temporarily, won its GT class at Le Mans in 1993. Provided by the Eagle Historic Collection, from the company best known for its special edition E-types and updates, the ‘87 World Sportscar Champion winning XJR-8 will be on show also.
Meanwhile, the XJ220C driven by David Brabham, David Coulthard and John Nielsen and an XJR-5 (below) built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing will run up the hillclimb route. In addition, well-known XJ220 specialists Don Law Racing will bring several XJ220s and XJR-15s.
Restored by Classic Motor Cars, the Lindner Nocker Low-drag Lightweight Jaguar E-type, the one-off 1954 XK120 SE by Pininfarina, plus the chassis 15 E-type from 1961 will also feature.
Special guests confirmed include XJ220 designer Keith Helfet, the ex-Jaguar chairman Sir John Egan and Le Mans winner Richard Attwood (below). Norman Dewis, the legendary Jaguar test driver who drove an E-type roadster overnight to Geneva for the motor show, will be joined by former Wheeler Dealers presenter Edd China, who will be running 'Ask Edd’ sessions.
Other highlights include the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly-past, a vintage fairground, shopping village, live music and a 1948-themed party.
The day pass tickets are still available, costing from £20 with under-16s getting in free when accompanied by an adult. For more information, view the XK70 website.
