Senna's final kart going on sale in London
A kart driven by Ayrton Senna weeks before his death is going on sale with RM Sotheby's in London, meaning you could be its next owner
The last kart ever driven by Ayrton Senna, widely regarded as one of the greatest racing drivers of all time, is headed to auction with RM Sotheby's in London on September 5.
According to the distributor, a former mechanic, racing driver and friend of Senna, the motorsport icon was sat in the kart on 19 March 1994, just under seven weeks before the fateful San Marino Grand Prix weekend where Senna and Roland Ratzenberger lost their lives.

Racing it around his farm in the town of Tatui, São Paulo, Senna drove the kart for a few laps before inviting some of his friends to also have a go.
The sale is accompanied by numerous written declarations from friends of Senna who were present on the day of the test, the last known time Senna ever karted, confirming that he drove the kart.
Accompanying the sale is over half an hour of video footage of Senna driving the kart on his private track as well as several photographs from the day depicting Senna, the kart and his friends.
After being driven by Senna the kart was put into storage and never driven again, but has been recently restored by the original manufacturer of the chassis and the builder of its engine. Declarations from both attesting to its authenticity are on file.
With the restoration work only recently completed, the kart has yet to be driven, meaning the new owner of the kart could well be following directly in Senna's footsteps.
A tenth of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to the Instituto Ayrton Senna, a non-profit organisation set up by Senna's family in November 1994 to support young Brazilians.
Over 1.5 million children and 65,000 teachers over 660 municipalities across 17 Brazilian states are supported by the organisation on an annual basis, and it has come to the assistance of more than 10 million since being created.
