Restored anniversary Porsches on display at Classic Motor Show

20 specially restored Porsches have been created, each featuring paint used on the 918 Spyder, to mark the brand's milestone 70th birthday – and they're all for sale

Porsche knows how to celebrate a birthday in style with a host of anniversary events and special cars getting the spotlight. However, before 2018 is over, Porsche GB has one more showstopper to revealed in the form of 20 perfectly restored classic Porsches. They will be publicly displayed at the NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham, UK.

More on Porsche

These special edition cars were commissioned to mark the 70th anniversary of Porsche with all 20 to be sold at the end of this year. Porsche Centres and Porsche Recommended Repairers were tasked with complete restorations to bring these cars back to ‘as-new’ condition.

10 of the 20 cars are first generation Porsche Boxsters, the earliest of which are now over 20 years-old, with the remainder being a combination of air and water-cooled cars. The 964 Turbo looks particularly sinister in its new shade!

Every car has been restored using factory original Porsche Classic parts to ensure each example is as complete as the day it left the factory. All 20 special vehicles are finished in the very same Liquid Metal paint — first seen on the Porsche 918 Spyder — and feature bespoke interiors, each with a ’70 years of Porsche’ plaque. Some added technology in the form of a vehicle tracking system and navigation brings these classics into the 21st century.

A second display of track prepared Porsche Boxsters represents the ‘Restoracing’ competition dealers have been involved in. To celebrate two decades of the Porsche Boxster each dealership has to source and prepare a 986 Boxster S with each car sporting a livery inspired by Porsche’s past. Novice drivers from the dealers raced at Silverstone and Brands hatch with the 2018 championship won by Porsche Centre Bolton. It has been decided to run the series again in 2019.

The Porsche GB display will also host the ‘Project 70’ racing car based on a 1965 short-wheelbase 911. This 2.0-litre car has been piloted by star drivers such as Richard Attwood, Derek Bell, and Anthony Reid.
