Psychedelic Beatles Bentley replica for sale in USA
A replica of the iconic psychedelic Bentley owned by The Beatles is heading auction, and has been restored – so it's perfect to take on a trip...
A replica of the psychedelic 1956 Bentley S1 saloon owned by The Beatles is going on sale at the Auburn Action on September 1, which will also feature Paul McCartney's old Mini Cooper S DeVille.
The Godbey Family Collection currently owns the car, which is decorated in pop art and psychedlic drawings just like the original, and was first used as a store vehicle for the Chelsea-based 'Dandie Fashions' fashion boutique.
The car gained its iconic paint job under John Crittle, the co-owner of Dandie Fashions and dresser of some of the biggest names in music in the 1960s.
Other Beatles vehicles that have gone under the hammer...
- Paul McCartney's Mini Cooper S DeVille

When The Beatles acquired the shop through their Apple Corps Ltd business venture, renaming it Apple Tailoring, they also received the Bentley to use. It was often seen then being used as a taxi for The Beatles and their famous friends, including Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, and Roger Daltry of The Who to name a few.
The replica was built for, and displayed by, the Movie World museum in California a decade after the original became famous, and was then sold on to the Sarasota Classic Car Museum, where it was briefly displayed alongside the car that inspired it. Under the surface there is a marked difference between the pair, with the replica benefiting from replacement of the front carpeting, the rebuilding of both SU carburettors, replacement of the coolant-thermostat housing, re-cored radiator, spark plugs, breaker points, and the distributor cap and rotor, meaning it is more than fit to run on the road.
A 4.8-litre F-head inline six-cylinder engine, which produces approximately 178bhp, is the original, and the car also retains its four-speed automatic gearbox, power steering, power brakes, independent front suspension with unequal-length wishbones and coil springs, and hydraulic-mechanical brakes it was built with.
