Classics for sale: Royal Aston Martin DB7 for only £25k
The 1996 Aston Martin DB7 Volante once owned by HRH Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Duke and Duchess of York is up for sale – for only £24,750!
Prince Andrew may have brought controversy, weapon sales and Sarah Ferguson into the Royal family, but with a taste for Aston Martins he can’t be all bad. The Duke of York may hold an Enron-style success rate as the United Kingdom’s Special Trade Representative, but his automotive taste knocks most other Throne-line Royals into a cocked hat.
From a butch V8 Volante Long Wheelbase to a dinky James Bond DB5 replica, the Queen’s second son has owned a wide array of Britain's finest. Yet, perhaps the most photographed and celebrated remains his 1996 Aston Martin DB7 Volante, boasting deep British Racing Green paintwork and a 3.2-litre, 24-valve, Eaton supercharged 335bhp engine. And it's for sale!

It is understood that HRH Prince Andrew used this Aston as a daily vehicle for at least the first year of its life, with the 7500-mile service carried out by Aston Martin Works Service in Newport Pagnell on the company’s account.
Attempting any form of media search for N904 LBM will provide one particular shot of the Duke and Duchess of York ferrying their two daughters – Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice – around with the roof down, proving that the DB7 was indeed a full-blown family car.
Quite how long Andrew kept the Aston Martin for remains unclear, but the second owner – Mr Sandal – continued to service the car with Aston Martin’s Newport Pagnell facility until 2004. The next owner purchased the DB7 on September 17, 2004 and covered just under 3500 miles in the summer months. The Volante was then kept in a dehumidified ‘air bubble’ from October to March each year.
The ex-HRH DB7 was then sold again to the current vendor on December 6, 2010. The engine has barely covered 4000 miles since, racking up a total of 72,300 miles across a 22-year lifespan.
The price for such a glorious drop-top trumpeting such a prominent Royal connection? The not-so costly sum of £24,750. That’s the same asking price as a BMW X1. The catch? There’s two door modules required to synchronise the otherwise functioning power roof. The canvas hood operates manually at present, meaning that you can still lower the roof for some alfresco motoring.
Handy with a spanner? Grab yourself a genuine bargain. Take a closer look!
