Classics for sale: Barn find Porsche 356B
After a Porsche restoration project? They don’t come much better than this age-old 356B barn find…
If you scour the online classifieds, the term ‘barn find’ will be liberally sprayed from advert to advert like a badge of honour. Chances are, most of the vehicles are imposters. If it’s been fished from a canal, plucked out a hedge, or sat outside for 30 years – it’ll be lovingly trumpeted as a time warp from a shed.
The reason is simple, barn finds hold extra fascination and therefore can command a hefty premium to the right crowd. However, it can often work in the enthusiasts’ favour. Especially if the vehicle is a genuine ‘barn find’. Such as this 1960 Porsche 356B Super 1600 Roadster.

Claiming matching numbers and boasting one owner over the last 40 years, the Porsche has escaped four decades of abuse, tucked away from prying eyes and aggressive driving. Don’t think for a moment she’s roadworthy, though. This is the ideal candidate for a complete restoration.
The vehicle also lay claim to a very rare Carrera rear valance, boomerang seat hinges and sports muffler. It might not mean much to those without anoraks, but to the originality brigade this can get the blood pressure going.
The model itself remains highly collectable, gifted a number of significant styling and technical refinements over the worshipped 356A. There was another update across the factory production line mid-1962 before disc brakes and extra power were injected into the frame.
Some purists feel that these innovations robbed the 356 of its raw feel and unadulterated road manners, making pre-update models the ones to go for. As such, as a legitimate barn find with restoration potential, surely this is the greatest example out there? Get a closer look with the AutoClassics classified advert.
