Nissan brings back R33 and R34 Skyline heritage parts
Restoring or rebuilding an iconic Nissan Skyline? Good news! Nissan's Heritage Program now supplies parts for the R32, R33, and R34 cars
The R33 and R34 Nissan Skyline GT-Rs have been through the full cycle from impressive new performance cars, to great second-hand buys, and now are appreciating modern classics. In 2017 Nissan announced that it would reproduce some components of the older R32 model as part of a Heritage Parts program, but now the famed R33 and R34 have had the same courtesy extended to them.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R has always split opinion amongst car enthusiasts. Some see it as a bit of an upstart that attempts to dethrone cars of higher stature, others applaud it for its technological innovation and value for money. The truth is that the R33 and R34 GT-Rs did both, particularly in the case of the later R34, which had performance to challenge Ferraris and Porsches of its day.
Through its NISMO performance department, Nissan had already offered a back-catalogue of new parts for the R32 generation. Everything from electric window switches to wiring harnesses are available to those restoring or repairing the old Skyline. The R33 and R34 parts list comes from the success of those reissued parts, although their list is much smaller. In contains various sills and hoses for customer cars to pass MOTs or its Japanese equivalent, the Shaken.
Sadly, these parts are only available through NISMO retailers in Japan, and at quite a cost. An R34’s tiny indicator lamp will set you back £51 ($66) for example. That said, these aren’t mass produced parts and you’d be lucky to find spare components that haven’t been used. It's also good to see that there’s a couple of body panels listed, should the worst happen to your Japanese icon.
Considering that demand spurred Nissan into initiating this heritage programme, and its success lead to the inclusion of the R33 and R34, here’s hoping that these parts might one day be offered directly to European and North American markets. For now, you can purchase spares though Nismo's Japanese portal.
