New categories for Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este
Italy’s exclusive automotive beauty pageant is open to entrants, with new categories for both classic cars and motorcycles
The details of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2018 automotive beauty pageant have been announced – and they include exciting new categories for both cars and motorcycles.
Held in northern Italy’s municipality of Cernobbio, against the cinematic backdrop of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este and Lake Como, the annual extravaganza is recognised as one of the most exclusive concours events on the classic vehicle calendar. It has been staged in conjunction with the BMW Classic Group since 2005, and this year’s display of rare beauties will take place on May 25–27. The theme, ‘Hollywood on the Lake’, will see the final categories reflect the full spectrum of history for both classic motorcycle and car enthusiasts.
Outstanding examples of historically significant vehicles can compete within the following categories, with more to be announced:
Golden Years for American Motorcycles (1907-1917)
Luxury on Three Wheels – Sidecars in the 1920s and 1930s (1920-1939)
Winning Italian Singles – 250cc Grand Prix Motorcycles (1949-1963)
New Clothes on British and German Motorcycles (1960-1970)

A sixth class is expected to be announced soon.

Shaped by the Wind: Grandes Routières of the Art Deco Era (1925-1940)
