Historic and modern Bugattis to lead Mecum Las Vegas II
The second Mecum Las Vegas Sale is filled by collection entries, but it's two Bugattis that will steal the show
Mecum returns to the Las Vegas Convention Centre in November for its second annual Las Vegas sale, and its set to attract almost 1000 vehicles, from muscle cars to classics, and restomods to a record holding supercar.
There is a huge number of cars from The Academy of Art University, which is selling off a substantial part of its collection ahead of the creation of the San Francisco Automobile Museum in 2019.
All 50 of its vehicles are pre-war luxury offerings, and include two Talbot-Lagos - a 1938 T120 Roadster and a 1939 T150-C Coupe - several Packards, a 1930 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton, a 1930 Bugatti Type 46 Faux Cabriolet, a 1935 Pierce-Arrow Model 1245 Silver Arrow (Lot S93.1) and several British luxury tourers.

The Ardell Brown Estate is another bringing a large number of cars to the auction, with over 130 lots being filled, all at no reserve. ‘Our first-ever collector-car auction in Las Vegas last year established an extremely high standard for quality consignments and strong sales,’ said Sam Murtaugh, Mecum’s vice president of marketing and presentation.
‘Frank Mecum and the consignment team have consigned remarkable collections for this year’s auction including the Academy of Art University Collection and the Ardell Brown Estate, plus other smaller collections and individual consignments from more than 30 states that are sure to result in eager bidding and further strengthen Mecum’s brand presence in Las Vegas and the Southwest.’
The auction will be open to buyers, sellers and spectators, and registration and price details can be found on Mecum’s website. The auction begins at 10am on November 15, and ends two days later. For those wishing to see the cars without making their way to Las Vegas, they can watch the auction on NBS Sports Network or on Mecum’s own livestream.
