LAT Archive: Alfa Romeo returns to Formula 1

1951 French Grand Prix – Reims-Gueux: Luigi Fagioli slides the Alfa Romeo 159 having taken the wheel from Juan Manuel Fangio. Fagioli finished in 11th position with Fangio going on to win the race in Fagioli's original car.

1979 Italian Grand Prix – Monza, 7-9 September: Vittorio Brambilla pilots the distinctive looking Alfa Romeo 177 to 12th position.

1980 Canadian Grand Prix – Montreal, 26-28 September: Andrea de Cesaris aboard an Alfa Romeo 179.

1983 Italian Grand Prix – Monza, 9-11 September: Eddie Cheever (Renault RE40), heads a group of cars at the start including Andrea de Cesaris (Alfa Romeo 183T), Alain Prost (Renault RE40), Elio de Angelis (Lotus 94T Renault) and Mauro Baldi (Alfa Romeo 183T).

1985 Portuguese Grand Prix – Estoril, 19-21 April: Alfa also ran as an engine supplier in the mid-1980s. Here Piercarlo Ghinzani pilots an Osella FA1F Alfa Romeo while running in 9th position.
