LaFerrari Aperta leads Bonhams Goodwood Revival sale line-up

A pair of Ferrari LaFerraris heads Bonhams' upcoming Goodwood Revival sale, featuring a convertible Aperta version for only the second time at public auction

A pair of Ferrari LaFerraris will headline Bonhams’ September 8 auction at the Goodwood Revival, including an example of the highly sought after Aperta convertible edition.

It is only the second time a LaFerrari Aperta has appeared on an auction block, offering a rare opportunity to own a car Ferrari sold on an invite-only basis when new.

210 examples of the Aperta convertible edition were produced in all, compared to a little less than 500 of its sister coupé variant. Such is its desirability, Bonhams has given the Aperta a sales estimate of £5,000,000–£6,500,000 despite it retailing at £2,000,000 when new.

What seems a hefty premium at first glance makes sense when contrasted to the previous public auction of a LaFerrari Aperta. Sold off during a charity auction for Save The Children, it went for more than double its sales estimate by closing at €8,300,000, £1,000,000 higher than Bonhams’ upper estimate for their example.

Finished in Nero Daytona paint with red and black interior, it is little surprise this LaFerrari Aperta has seen so little use by its first owner. With only 317 miles clocked thus far, its value has increased by approximately £14195.50 per mile driven, should the Aperta sell for its upper estimate.

It is paired together in the same sale with a matching 2015 LaFerrari coupé, finished in a similar Grigio Reventon Lucido with Piano Black accent paintwork. For those who feel the Aperta is a bit beyond their budget, this LaFerrari coupé is estimated to sell for between £2,300,000–£2,800,000.

Thanks to these two LaFerraris appearing for sale together, a 2012 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport in the same docket has found itself somewhat overshadowed, a rare occurrence for a vehicle which held the title of fastest production car on earth for seven years.

Also unlike those LaFerraris, this Veyron has actually seen some use, though clocking 1550 miles in six years is still very little, given it can theoretically cover 258 miles in a single hour at top speed.
