Jay Kay's McLaren 675LT heads to auction
The McLaren 675LT became an instant classic in 2016 with strong market values. This example was once owned by celebrity petrolhead Jay Kay
The McLaren Longtail name is one originally forged in motorsport with the legendary McLaren GTR Longtails that took on Le Mans. McLaren Automotive decided to transplant that Longtail DNA into a road car back in 2016 with the synapse singing McLaren 675LT the result. Values for this instant classic have remained strong, but this particular LT has the added bonus of once belonging to Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay. It’ll be up for grabs through Silverstone Auctions at the NEC Classic Motor Show Sale.
Jay Kay is famed for his great taste in cars and extensive collection which at one point was though to encompassed 100 vehicles. He currently owns star cars that include a bright green LaFerrari, Aston Martin DB5 and a classic rally Audi Quattro, to name but a few. He must be freeing up some garage space to part with a car as special as the 675LT.

Packing a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 666bhp and 516lb/ft of torque, the McLaren 675LT will get from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds. But it’s not just about the numbers, this car is loved for being one of the most engaging supercars McLaren has ever made.
On top of its incredible performance, dynamic driving traits, and celebrity owner, this left-hand drive 675LT spent some time with McLaren Special Operations (MSO). MSO is a special division that will turn your visions of the ultimate McLaren into a reality. They can do everything from bespoke parts to totally unique models providing that your pockets are deep enough. This LT features louvers on the front wings, roof scoop, and a series of carbon fibre touches coming to an additional £50,000.
The combination of a Chicane Grey exterior and orange seats might not be to everyone's liking, but this 2000-mile car could make for a good future investment. Just 500 McLaren 675LTs were built, with MSO-fettled cars truly being one of a kind. Silverstone Auctions estimates the car will sell for between £230,000 - £280,000 ($303,794 - $369,837). McLaren also made a Spider variant of the 675LT, which today is even more valuable than the coupe. It will be intriguing to see if this Longtail will surpass its upper estimate at the NEC.
