James G Hascall Porsche collection to be auctioned
Twelve Porsches from a private collection will be offered without reserve during the Amelia Island Auction on March 9
Gooding & Company, the auction house renowned for selling some of the world’s most significant and valued Porsches, has announced the sale of a dozen exceptional collector cars from the James G Hascall Collection. The 12 Porsches from this private selection will be offered without reserve at the company’s Amelia Island Auction held on March 9, 2018.
The Porsches, which span a 50-year period, feature some of the marque’s most desirable offerings. Mr Hascall was a dedicated collector who began acquiring Porsches during the 1980; both he and his wife shared the passion, partaking in numerous road rallies in their cars.
‘It is a great honour to present this beautifully curated collection of cars featuring an important Porsche model from each decade over the past 50 years,’ stated Angus Dykman, specialist at Gooding & Company. ‘Each example was carefully selected by Mr Hascall, and his pride of ownership and care is evident throughout the collection.’
One of the highlights from the 12-vehicle selection is a 1987 959 Komfort, which is estimated to breach the $900k marker. Taking the world by storm upon launch, the ground-breaking 959 utilised twin turbochargers and four-wheel drive, and introduced a host of electronic systems that can still be found in modern vehicles.
Capable of grasping 200mph and hitting 60mph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds, only 242 Komfort models were ever made. This specimen was formerly a part of Japan’s famed Matsuda Porsche Museum, and wears a striking livery of Guards Red over a tri-colour interior. Its odometer reads a mere 7400km.
A further feature from the James G Hascall Collection is something more modern – a solid example of a 2005 Carrera GT, which is estimated to sell anywhere between $800k and $1m. Unveiled as a concept in 2000 the model received a great deal of interest, which resulted in a production run of 1270. Purchased new by Mr Hascall, this example was finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Terracotta interior. Hascall enjoyed the supercar in a sparing fashion, with the odometer reading an unbelievably low 120 miles. The V10 engine is barely run in.
