How much to buy Schumacher's Ferrari F1 teambus?
Bonhams estimates a six-figure sum for the Ferrari teambus, used by Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, and offered at its Paris sale
An ex-Ferrari Formula 1 teambus used by drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello is set to be auctioned by Bonhams next week.
The Iveco Domino was custom-built for the team and used from 2001 until the end of the 2005 season, during Ferrari’s dominant period in F1.
It was specifically designed to house team strategy meetings between the team’s drivers and engineers. In its original configuration, the Domino featured two apartments each equipped with LCD TV sets, Dune computer table, a satellite phone, internet access, closed storage and a dressing room. Plus, each had its own physiotherapy table for massages after the race.
The next owner, who purchased the Iveco in 2009, ordered a total conversion and transformed it into a luxury motorhome. The 12-metre bus now features a Bose audio system but retains its Rosso Corsa livery. Since then the 375bhp bus has covered 90,000km but is listed as being in 'very good condition'.
A certificate of authenticity signed by former team boss Stefano Domenicalli, UK V5C registration papers and invoices for the conversion are all included in the sale.
It will feature in the Les Grandes Marques du Monde au Grand Palais – Great Marques of the World – auction in Paris on February 8, and carries an estimate of between £110,000 and £130,000.
The auction includes several high-profile motorsport lots including a works Lancia Delta S4 Group B rally car, and a £1 million 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL roadster, built to SLS competition specification.
Four generations of V12 Lamborghini flagships will also head for sale.
In May, Bonhams will auction an ex-Ayrton Senna McLaren MP4/8A. Chassis six is the car he used to win a record sixth Monaco Grand Prix, Senna’s final victory in the principality.
