1938 Hispano-Suiza takes Rodeo Drive Concours victory

From humble beginnings at Beverly Hills High School to establishing itself as a must-attend Father’s Day tradition, the Rodeo Drive Concours has quickly become one of the most eagerly awaited annual events in Los Angeles.
Hosted by the Beverley Hills Police Foundation, a non-profit charity that raises funds for officers and their families, 2018’s 25th anniversary event crowned the 1938 Hispano-Suiza its knock-out vehicle after careful deliberation from a panel of industry experts.
The H6B Dubonnet Xenia, which is owned by the prestigious Mullin Automotive Museum, was awarded the coveted Best of Show prize. It attracted huge crowds as well as ultimate appreciation from the judges.
The Xenia was designed by World War One pilot, racing driver and Olympic athlete André Dubonnet, and incorporates an innovative independent suspension set-up. Its art deco styling and hand-built coachwork by Jacques Saoutchik features teardrop-inspired wings and a sculpted bonnet.

A strong Father’s Day tradition, this year’s Concours served up a prestigious selection of automotive exotica for dads and their families, bringing more than 30,000 guests and attendees to Beverly Hills. The showcase of priceless classics and ultra-rare hypercars included a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300Sc Coupé and Ruf’s 2009 CTR3.
This year’s event was highlighted by a bespoke display of almost 50 silver vehicles, marking the show’s 25th anniversary. This presentation included European classics, muscle cars, luxury sedans and the odd supercar, and took up an entire block along Rodeo Drive.
‘Our 25th anniversary celebration generated the largest turnout and the most spectacular cars ever… until next year, of course!’ said Bruce Meyer, chairman of the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance.
‘I am especially proud of the diversity of the cars we had on display today, offering selections for every enthusiast’s interest and passion. It’s our goal to expose as many people as possible to both Beverly Hills and the world of car collecting.’
