Ginetta confirms weekend of 60th birthday events
To mark its 60th year, Ginetta has announced a celebratory weekend in mid-August, including what it hopes will be the largest-ever display of marque cars
Ginetta has announced that it will host a weekend of free events on August 11-12, 2018 to celebrate the sports car brand’s 60th birthday, headed up by a marque car display open to all.
The badge is synonymous with the four Walklett brothers. Growing from small beginnings in 1958, it has become a weighty force in road and track cars. To celebrate its sixth decade of manufacturing there will be a ‘Ginetta Through the Years’ extravaganza at Wroxall Abbey Hotel and Estate, Warwickshire, on Sunday August 12.
All vehicles are welcome, and the first 100 Ginettas to arrive will receive a commemorative dashboard plaque. There will also be display car judging and trophies. It’s hoped this will be largest gathering of Ginettas ever, with models spanning from the late 1950s right through to the present day.
Ginetta and the Ginetta Owners Club will also be hosting a free family day on the Sunday, which will boast a range of activities in addition to the car display, including a bouncy castle, face painting and a football shootout, plus a selection of trader, autojumble and refreshment stalls.
There also will be a book signing by Trevor Pyman, who this year has published his second book on Ginettas, Ginetta – Road and Track Cars, which traces the story of the marque through its design, business management and models.
The opening day of the celebration weekend, Saturday August 11, will comprise a 30-mile road run for Ginetta owners and friends, starting and finishing at the abbey. There will also be an evening gala dinner featuring guest speakers.
