French motorsport to headline Vernasca Silver Flag Hill Climb
Over 300 cars will take part in the fantastic Italian hillclimb. This year it will honour French motorsport across three days this summer
Famous French racing cars have been announced as the central theme for this year’s Vernasca Silver Flag Hill Climb in Italy.
The June 29 to July 1 event, led by the Club Piacentino Automotoveicoli di’Epoca, will be the 23rd running of the hillclimb and over three hundred cars are expected to take part.

It is one of the most prestigious historic motorsport events on the continent with recent editions having featured the still-born Group S Lancia Delta ECV (Experimental Composite Vehicle), multiple Group 6 era sportscars and a host of 1960s through '80s Formula 1 cars.
The hillclimb itself will take the usual format with two runs between Castell'Arquato and Vernasca on the Saturday followed by a gala dinner at Castell’Arquato and one run on the Sunday, which will be followed by the prizegiving lunch at Vernasca.
Hillclimb organiser Claudio Casali said: ‘As always once this year’s French theme had been decided students at the local art college were asked to take part in a competition with the winner’s artwork being used for our posters, programmes and advertising.
‘It was a tough competition with dozens of students taking part but in the end it was won by 19 year old Lambri Eugenio who attends the Bruno Cassinari Artistic School in Piacenza with a great image of a Bugatti that really sets the scene for this year’s theme.’
‘There are still a few places left. If you would like to participate please contact the club.’ More details on the Vernasca Silver Flag website.
