Don’t miss the Autosport International Live Action Arena
Live Action Arena at NEC features thrilling stunts from Terry Grant, Billy Monger and the Mission Motorsport team
Professional stunt driver Terry Grant and double-amputee racing driver Billy Monger are among the stars in the Live Action Arena extravaganza at this year’s Autosport International show.
Monger – who lost his legs in a motorsport accident last year – will play the leading role in a display of thrilling manoeuvres alongside fellow Mission Motorsport team drivers. They will perform the dramatic stunts in four Jaguar F-type sports cars.
Run by veterans, serving officers and motorsport professionals, the Mission Motorsport charity aids the recovery of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through motorsport. Guided by the mantra ‘Race, Retrain, Recover’, it offers training, direct vocational support and assistance, and is currently helping Monger in a recovery and rehabilitation process.
The hour-long Live Action Arena spectacular showcases a large and varied line-up of leading motorsport categories, and stars competition drivers from around the world. The racing action, demonstrations and record-breaking stunts are peppered with celebrity interviews and appearances.
NASCAR fans can witness the extraordinary power of an American Cup car, first showcased with 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte.
A drifting sequence with a difference can also be expected, while Rallycross will be represented by a unique XITE Racing Ford Fiesta World Rallycross challenge, undertaken by Oliver Bennett. It’s not to be missed.
Further action sees Ginetta racing cars put through their paces in a highly competitive event showcasing legends from the sports car’s stable. It’s a perfect ideal celebration of the iconic brand’s 60th anniversary. Meanwhile, for those of an Aston Martin persuasion, the British firm will be parading its Vantage for all to drool over. This should provide the sexiest tyre smoke of all.
Should your itch for motorsport thrills require further attention, high-octane action will arrive in the form of Autograss and BriSCA F1 stock cars. This will complete a series of races and interview segments, hosted by SKY F1 lead commentator David Croft alongside social media vlogger Shmee150.
The best news of all? None of this will cost you an extra penny. All live racing entertainment within the 5000-seater Live Action Arena is included with every Autosport International entry ticket.
Autosport International show director Kate Woodley said: ‘Mission Motorsport is a charity created to help the recovery of those affected by military operations through motorsport, and we are delighted to have its team, Terry and Billy conducting our stunts at this year’s show.
‘With so many different aspects of motorsport represented, from the grassroots to the highly prestigious NASCAR series, we have some truly great and inspiring content to share with fans this week. There will be something for everyone.’
