The Ford Thunderbird, or ’T-Bird’ as it became known, was a charismatic sports car that embodied America living well. Available in a wide range of configurations throughout its life, it was originally designed to compete with Chevrolet's new Corvette. This well-priced model meant that the four-wheeled American dream, where everyone has something special on the driveway, was within reach for the vast majority.
This rare first generation 1956 model is finished in an unusual shade of Sage Green and with a contrasting dark green hard-top. The art deco detailing on this car is captivating as the porthole window, externally mounted spare wheel, and chrome work adds plenty of charm.
Complete with wire wheels and whitewall tyres, this example has been fully restored and looks as fresh as it did in the ‘50s. The car was stripped down to the metal before being repainted in this eye-catching shade. The mechanicals have received plenty of attention too with a full engine and transmission rebuild to ensure that this Thunderbird drives at its best. Just 800 miles have been put on the car since this intensive restoration was completed a year ago.
This Ford Thunderbird is offered without reserve, so someone might end up with a bargain!
