Wearing the same #43 as made famous by Petty, Wallace finished second in his first Daytona 500 appearance – equalling the race record for a rookie. He also recorded team Richard Petty Motorsports’ best series result since 2016 and the highest finish for an African-American driver in the 60-year history of the Daytona 500.
Producing approximately 850hp from a 5.8-litre V8, the ZL1 will be auctioned on May 12 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. You can also bid for the vehicle online.
Signed by Wallace, it carries a pre-sale estimate of between $70,000 and $90,000.
Wallace said: ‘This car is always going to be special to me. It was my first Daytona 500 and was such an emotional race being the first full-time African-American driver in NASCAR since Wendell Scott.
‘This car was the best place for me to be. It was an amazing day with this car.’
President and CEO of Julien’s Auctions Darren Julien added: ‘Julien’s Auctions is thrilled to offer this legendary car driven by NASCAR’s next generation of champions, Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr.
‘This special car has made its way into the books of NASCAR history and rightfully belongs in the Victory Lane of "The King" Richard Petty’s collection of championship cars, trophies and motorsports memorabilia to be offered at auction.’
