Best of British at Bonhams' Olympia sale
Hurry, it's nearly time for the Bonhams sale at Olympia, on Wednesday 6 December, where British icons dominate the line-up
There's an appropriately British theme to Bonhams' Olympia sale on Wednesday 6 December, with a number of Brit icons due to go under the hammer at the equally iconic London venue.
They include what Bonhams refer to as 'one of the most authentic and original Aston Martin DB5s in London', which has been used as a daily driver around London for the past three decades, driven by the current owner since 1988, when he bought it from his father-in-law. it's a 1964 model, finished in Silver Birch, with subtle engine modifications that include a capacity hike to 4.2-litre and V8 Vantage valves for better breathing.
Another Brit is the 1929 Invicta 4½-Litre Tourer (£100,000-130,000), which has been owned by the same family since its purchase 88 years ago. It's offered with a huge collection of history files and archive images from its life on road and track.
Then there's a 1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III (£300,000-350,000) originally owned by the Malaysian royal family featured in the 2010 film London Boulevard, starring Keira Knightley and Colin Farrell.
There's also General Bernard Montgomery’s 1936 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Touring Limousine (£150,000-180,000), which was used during WW2 as his staff car, and hosted Churchill, Eisenhower and even King George VI.
They're joined by a circa-1986 Group B Ford RS200 (£140,000-160,000) that has covered only 4100km from new, and is rare in that it remains in highly original condition.
