BMW fleet for CCA September sale

A special selection of 18 of Bavaria’s finest set to star in CCA’s 2018 September Sale; here’s the low-down…

A fleet of 18 BMWs will go under the hammer at CCA’s 2018 September Sale, which is set to take place at the Warwickshire Event Centre on September 15. Highlights include a 1996 E31 850 CSI, 1983 E28 Alpina B9, 1999 E36 M3 GT Evolution Individual and 1999 Z3M Coupé.

The E31 850CSI was the pinnacle of the 8 series range, and featured a 375bhp 5.6-litre V12 engine. This particular example of the high-demand car is one of only 160 right-hand-drive UK models, and has been with the same owner for the past 17 years. It is estimated to sell for £40,000-50,000. This rare car was recently restored, and its BMW lifetime warranty is still valid.

Meanwhile, the well travelled E28 Alpina B9 3.5 was originally sold in Germany, before moving to Japan in 1985 and eventually the UK in 2017. It underwent light re-commissioning before being UK registered. Now wearing dark blue paint with a brown velour interior, the car comes with the classic Alpina stripes and Momo leather steering wheel.

The E36 M3 GT Evolution Individual, the 37th of the 50 UK cars built, was used as a send-off for the E36 M3 before that model was replaced in 2000 by the E46. It has the M3 GT’s trademark Imola Red colour, and a bespoke Nappa leather interior in Amaretto and Anthracite. Recently it received a full glass-out respray with a new bonnet, windscreen, headlight glass and window trims, fitted at a cost of £6000.

The quirky but much-admired Z3M Coupé is another machine that’s in impressive condition. Painted silver but with an Imola Red and black interior, the car has a 3.2L straight-six engine, the same one that features in the E36 M3 GT, which has been fully rebuilt. A highly specced 2000 E46 M3 AC Schnitzer, 1982 E21 320 Baur Cabriolet, 2002 Alpina B3S 3.4 and 2007 E61 M5 Touring with a 507bhp 5.0-litre V10 engine are some of the other BMWs joining the sale.

‘BMW has always been a signifier of reliable, ingenious, quality German engineering,’ said Richard Greenhalgh, classic car specialist at CCA.

‘They are some of the most sought-after cars currently, and values are matching that desire. When we offer a BMW for auction, we can be sure they are a cut above the rest. The particular cars on offer at the September Sale are truly some of the best to come out of the Bavarian Motor Works.’
