Completely original, barn-find 1967 Mini up for grabs!
H&H Classics is set to offer a one-owner ’67 Mini 850 Deluxe during its Buxton sale on July 18 – with only 36,000 miles on the clock
Fancy snapping up a genuine ‘barn-find’ 1967 Mini 850 Deluxe? Now’s your chance, as H&H Classics will offer just a model in its Buxton auction on July 18.
The Mini has been in single ownership in Lancashire from new. Having been off the road and in storage since 1983, it still boasts a recorded mileage of only 36,000, and is apparently original in every way. The final sale price is estimated at £6000-£10,000 – although we reckon it could go for far more.
Unlike virtually every other Mini on the planet, this example has never seen a welder or undergone MoT-saving bodywork. It’s proof that a rust-free Mini is not something of legend – and even the interior is like new. The original bill of sale is included, along with two keys and the vehicle’s handbook.
The vendor, son of the original owner, explained: ‘My father purchased GBV 121E brand new in 1967 for his early retirement. The car was used mainly for holidays; my parents loved touring the Highlands of Scotland as well as North Yorkshire. My father was diagnosed with ME in the early 1980s. The Mini was very little used, and in 1983 it was taken off the road. When my father was told he would never drive again, he gave the car to me. It was sheeted and raised off the floor, supported with wooden blocks under the sub frame to keep the weight off the suspension and wheels. It never moved again until this year. So the car only ever had one driver.’
Roger Nowell, of the H&H Classics sales team, was the man who discovered this gem quietly resting in a garage – which it hadn’t left in 35 years.
He said: ‘The joy of this job is that now and then you stumble across a car that you just know is going to excite other car lovers as much as it excites you. This little car is such an iconic symbol of its time of Britain and our motoring history. It was utterly revolutionary in its day and had a massive influence on the automotive industry.’
