Celebrate Ayrton Senna's famous 1993 F1 win at Donington

It's 25 years since Senna famously won the British Grand Prix in the rain at Donington Park – there will be special displays to mark the anniversary at Donington Historic Festival

In association with

The 25th anniversary of the famous rain-soaked 1993 European Grand Prix, in which Ayrton Senna took a legendary victory, will be celebrated at this year’s Donington Historic Festival on May 4-6.

The Festival’s anniversary theme celebrates that victory in April 1993, when Donington Park hosted its first Grand Prix in 55 years. In treacherous conditions caused by torrential rain Ayrton Senna started fourth, and battled Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher to win by a remarkable 80 seconds.

F1 cars on show will pay tribute in particular to Ayrton Senna, and were either driven by him or against him during his career up to 1993. They include:

The Toleman TG-184-01 Hart Turbo in which Senna caused a sensation for Friday practice at the 1984 British GP

The Camel Lotus/Judd 101/3 campaigned in 1989 by Nelson Piquet and Satoru Nakajima

The 1993 Benetton B193B raced that year by Michael Schumacher and Riccardo Patrese

Visitors will also be invited to share their memories of the famous race on display boards at the Festival. Before the event, motorsport fans will be able send in their own images and memories of the race, which will be printed out and put up on a shared ‘scrapbook’ board

The 25th anniversary of Senna's win will add to the usual three days of world-class historic motorsport from a wide range of grids, spanning nine decades.
