Atlanta Concours d'Elegance moves to film studio for 2019
Heading into its fourth year, the growing Atlanta Concours d'Elegance is changing venue so it can fit in more than ever
The Atlanta Concours d’Elegance will relocate to Tyler Perry Studios in downtown Atlanta for next year's show on October 19/20. Its move to a larger venue coincides with an expansion of the event weekend to include the Caffeine and Octane Invitational, now on its own day, and a celebration of Bentley’s 100th anniversary. The event is being supported the Metropolitan Chapters of 100 Black Men, an African-American community group based in Atlanta.

Bentley will be a featured marque at the concours, with displays from its vintage 'Blower Bentley' years and Le Mans success, all the way through to its current production run of vehicles. The enlarged show space means a ‘Reunion of the Thomas’s’ will also be taking place, featuring a rare collection of ‘Brass Era’ vehicles from 1900-1919, including 1908 New York to Paris Race winner the ‘Thomas Flyer’. The race is considered to be the first and only around-the-world automobile race, meaning this car has significant bragging rights, which aren’t often talked about, in motorsport history.
The change of location doesn’t mean the features of the first three editions will be lost, with Magnificent Seven Competition and the Caffeine and Octane elements being retained, with the latter being expanded with the assistance of the NBC Sport Network.
‘The move to Tyler Perry Studios provides an absolutely unique, history-rich environment that is conveniently located—while placing the entrant vehicles in a setting reflecting the time period during the earliest years of automotive production,’ said Bill Wallet, the CEO of the Atlanta concours.
Tyler Perry Studios is located between downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and its accessible transport infrastructure and larger show field is what’s prompted the switch from the Chateau Elan Golf Club that was the previous concours host. There are over 6.5 million people in the metropolitan area surrounding the new location, meaning the fourth edition will likely feature a record number of visitors.
