One of only 152 ever made, this Porsche 356A Carrera Speedster is further rarified by being one of just four built in right-hand drive. Of that small number this example is the last one left in the UK. The quad-cam sports car was restored in 2014, being returned to its original colour and reupholstered. This example is already a multi-award winner abroad and will be aiming to add the UK to its list of international prizes.

Built as a coupe, convertible, and speedster, over 76,000 356s were built over its 17 year production run. The 356 was tweaked and improved over the year using less and less Volkswagen parts. These derivatives are identified as 356 pre-A, 356 A, 356 B, and 356 C.

The car became so popular that when it was eventually replace by the 911, many decreed the end of days with no chance of the new model living up to its predecessor — how wrong were they?

To mark Porsche’s 70th anniversary Salon Privé will be hosting a special Porsche Concours that will feature 50 outstanding examples from the sports car brand. Competition for the top prize will be tough, but this rare 356A RHD Carrera Speedster is surly one of the favourites.

Salon Privé takes place at Blenheim Palace in the UK between 30th August and 1st September, with Porsche Concours on Saturday 31st August. The event combines some of the rarest and most collectable cars with a garden party atmosphere. This year the event will take place on the cricket pitch in front of the palace itself making for an even more regal event.
