And we have more than 130 photos of it.

There’s absolutely no need to explain how important the BMW M3 (E30) was not only for BMW but for the entire automotive industry. A car that totally changed the performance vehicle segment and that is still appreciated for its dynamic capabilities even today. No wonder one of the best M3 (E30) examples we’ve ever seen just sold at an online auction for more than three times the starting price of a brand new BMW M4 Coupe.

According to information from Bring A Trailer, this 1988 M3 was delivered new to its first owner in California and remained with him until his passing a few years later. Until 2010, it was garaged and used occasionally by his family, and then it was bought by its second owner from Missouri. Prior to the sale on the online auction platform, the sports coupe had approximately 8,000 on the odometer.

Needless to say, everything is in immaculate condition. Just take a look at the photos - even the suspension parts and underbody panels look to be like brand new. The interior, exterior, and engine bay are also spotless, and the car was last serviced in April this year with a fluids change, a valve adjustment, and a timing chain tensioner, clutch slave cylinder, and accessory drive belts change. As you can see and hear from the attached videos, it looks and sounds practically just as gloriously as day one.

And now, about the price. The auction ended at $250,000 which is a lot of money and definitely above what we were expecting this car to fetch. However, given the low mileage, the overall condition, and its full history, we tend to agree this is a fair price. Just for a quick comparison, for the same amount of money you can easily buy three brand new BMW M4 Coupes and still have a few bucks in your pocket.
