And it's up for sale in Tucson.
We love all kinds of restomods and we were very excited when we discovered this awesome 1972 Dodge Challenger for sale. It’s one of the most extreme and capable examples of the model we've seen and it’s currently listed on Craigslist for $29,000 but we’ll get to the price later.
For this project, the body of the two-door coupe has been welded on an M1009 military frame and chassis which, in turn, rides on massive 37/12.5/R17 BFGoodrich KM2 off-road tires with “plenty of tread left.”
Power comes from a 5.7-liter V8 engine with many hardware modifications, including a new alternator, new aftermarket Holley fuel pump, new plugs and wires, new air filter, and many, many others. It is mated to a recently rebuilt 4L80E automatic transmission and an NP205 transfer case with a front Dana 44 axle with locking hubs and rear Dana 60 straight axle with 2H, 4H, and 4L gears.

The cabin is more restrained with mostly original components but at least a few notable upgrades. These include new gauges, new aftermarket Sony stereo with Bluetooth and an additional amplifier, reverse camera, and additional rear-mounted LED light. The door panels, headliner, seats, and carpet have all been completely restored to their former glory.
And now about the price. The seller explains he has invested more than $40,000 in the project with all documented receipts coming to prove that. The “incredible amount of work, time and effort that has been put into this vehicle” will probably never be paid back as the current price is $29,000 after a recent discount. Is it worth it?
