But what about the Camaro, Corvette and Mustang?
Instagram is just a digital popularity contest to see who can get the most likes and hashtags, and it's no different for the automotive world. U.K.-based comparison company, Compare The Market, recently took to the social media site to compare hashtag trends among some of the most popular classic car nameplates in the world, and came up with interesting results.
While it seems to be a generally fair way of looking for the most popular vehicular hashtags and a cool idea at its core, classic American cars – such as the Camaro, Corvette and Mustang – were not included in the list. For example, #fordmustang is shows almost 2.7 million posts compared to the 1.7 million posts Compare The Market is showing for the top-ranked Mazda RX-7 resulting in an interesting yet extremely flawed list. American cars weren't completed shunned from the list as the Shelby Cobra, Chevy Impala and Pontiac Trans Am made the top 20.
