Next year's trial and hillclimb based championship will be sponsored by a firm with a mission
Blue Diamond has long had a desire to develop the next generation of driving talent, and the company is now capable of that having become the sponsor of a Vintage Sports Car Club series, purely so it can support the youth winner.
Ian Gladstone started the company that became Blue Diamond in 1974 from his parents’ house. He collaborated with Brian Lloyd-Jacob and as their company grew over the next four decades they ended up buying the inventory of Caffyns Riley dealership in Brighton for the sum of £200.

For 2019, Blue Diamond will be the awards sponsor for the VSCC Speed Championship, which is based around speed trials and hillclimbs. The championship will have a new trophy for the winner of the Young Persons Award, aptly named the Blue Diamond Trophy, which will extend to entry fees being covered for the 2020 Speed Season.
There will be nine rounds on the 2019 VSCC calendar, all taking place in England, split between two speed trials and seven hillclimbs. Returning venues include Harewood and Shelsley Walsh. The season opener at Curborough has also been brought forward compared to previous years to avoid a compact schedule.
