Restored by Pebble Beach Concours winners RX Autoworks, this beautiful pre-war car currently on sale could one day be a winner itself
To produce a Pebble Beach Concours winning car, you need an exacting attention to detail, a huge amount of knowledge, and the talent to restore beautiful classics. RX Autoworks knows what it takes, having won the 2018 ‘Most Elegant Enclosed Car’ class with a mesmerising 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C Lungo Berlinetta. Now listed in our classifieds is a 1937 Alvis Speed 25 Special restored by these proven concours winners.

Isn’t she a beauty! This pristine pre-war machine has been restored with some help from RX Autoworks. The Alvis now possesses a new ash wood frame that was built from scratch truly displaying their craftsmanship. New coachbuilt metal work has also been created by the talented team. Its freshly upholstered interior transports you back to a time when aircraft-inspired gauges pepped the dashboard and material quality was first and foremost.
The Alvis Speed 25 Special features a torquey 3.6-litre straight-six engine with 106bhp. This unit, along with other mechanicals, has been restored by its current owner and is now properly run in after completing a number of long-distance rallies such as a 1,400-mile trip through British Columbia. Independent front suspension helps with composure at speed while servo assisted brakes help bring this classic under control. According to the advert it has proved both fast and comfortable throughout ownership.
This 25 Special was originally delivered to Glasgow in Scotland in 1937, it then moved to the south of England for some time. In October 1969 Mr K.A. Wilson bought and had it shipped to Toronto, Canada where it stayed in his ownership for some 20 years. In 1999 the car came stateside and was bought by its current owner in 2014.
The current custodian of this Alvis is a collector who needs to free up some garage space for future projects, hence the sad departure of this British pre-war sports car. It’s currently listed by Charles Leith Ltd with pricing upon appointment.
