Concours of Elegance 2018

Date: 31 Aug to 02 Sep

Address: Palace Gate, Hampton Court Road, Molesey, East Molesey, UK

Contacts: gilli@thoroughevents.co.uk

Map & Direction

The Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace brings together a selection of 60 rare and seldom-seen automotive icons from around the world – many of which have never been seen before in the UK. Many of the Concours cars will also take part in a 2-day driving tour in the days running up to the main Concours event. Uniquely, the Concours of Elegance winner isn’t selected by a panel of judges but by the Owners of the cars themselves. Each participant is asked to vote on the other models on display to decide which car is considered to be the ‘Best of Show’. Complementing the Concours of Elegance will be displays of hundreds of other fine motor cars, including entrants to The Club Trophy. Now in it’s fourth year, The Club Trophy sees some of the UK’s most prestigious car clubs offering up their finest examples to an independent panel of judges. The winning Club Trophy car will secure a place in the following year’s main Concours of Elegance event.

Map & Direction

Since 1910 Kop Hill has hosted the complete alphabet of cars on the hill. Some roaring, some cruising and some puttering to the top. You’ll witness fire-spitting aero-engined beasts lunging up the hill, then stroll across to the paddock for your first glimpse of the latest models up close and personal. We go from steam to electric with just about every gasoline powered marque you can imagine inbetween. At Kop Hill you can experience the weird, the wonderful, the fast and the first of their kind. Marvel at a Marlborough, be charmed by a Chalmers or perhaps size up a Sizaire Freres. Our entrants come in three invited categories. Veteran and Vintage from 1900 to the 1930’s. Post-War era vehicles which runs up to 1978. And finally more modern cars that are either crowd pleasing, rare or significant and in many cases all three. We love to celebrate special occasions and invite cars with big birthdays such as those launched 50 or a 100 years ago. 2018 brings the 100th anniversary of the First World War ending and will feature cars and vehicles from this era. 50 years on we celebrate anniversaries like the Ferrari Daytona and Dino, milestone cars like the Ford Escort and its impact in rallying as well as cars from Lamborghini, Morgan, Ginetta, Alfa Romeo and many more. 70 years ago the London Motor Show hosted the launch two such seminal cars. The very first Land Rover and the ground breaking Jaguar XK120. With 800 cars and bikes that run the hill or are on display you are sure to expect the unexpected at Kop Hill Festival 2018.

Targa Florio

Date: 04 Oct to 07 Oct

Address: Palermo, Province of Palermo, Italy

Contacts: + 39 091 300468

Website:

Map & Direction

In 2018 the “Cursa” will be an exclusive opportunity to be experienced in Sicily from October 4th to 7th. Targa Florio was born in 1906 when on May 6 took place the first edition of this competition, destined to become the most famous race in the world. Icon of Italy and, above all, Sicily, whose passion, traditions and attachment to its cherished event were spread throughout the world. Targa Florio was born thanks to the enlightened and visionary talent of Vincenzo Florio, who had an entrepreneurial spirit but also was a man of great intelligence and culture who loved his land. Florio saw far when he said: “What are cars for if you do not build roads where they can go?”. Since the victory of Alessandro Cagno, a young mechanic from Turin, on a Itala in the first edition, other 98 wins have followed. Targa Florio stopped only because of the world wars. After that its glorious path has never known a break. The only thing that remains unchanged is the deep passion of its people. This passion expresses and shares the values of Sicily and reveals colors, smells, flavors, traditions and history of a land where hospitality is a cult.
