Legends are pleased to offer the following highly competitive FIA Jaguar Semi Lightweight E Type Roadster for sale.
Built and prepared by the respected and experienced team of M & C Wilkinson in 2005 and continuously developed since. XAS 885 has enjoyed much success over the subsequent years consistently competing at the front of the pack in an always hotly contested racing environment.
Competitive life: XAS 885 was raced successfully by Stephen Radcliffe and Dianne Osborne for many years, then later driven by Desiree Wilson at the Jaguar E-Type Challenge 50th anniversary meeting at the Silverstone Classic 2011. Continuously developed over recent years, and regularly raced by Conor O’Brien, Matt Nicoll-Jones and John Bussell in the Masters Gentlemen Drivers, the HSSC Jaguar Heritage Race Series, the Silverstone Classic, the HRDC All Stars and in the BSGTSCC race at Spa. More recent XAS 885 was upgraded to “Battle of Britain Trophy” winning specification at the Silverstone Classic in 2015, driven by Matt Nicoll-Jones to first place. During 2017 the current owner racked up additional impressive results qualifying 2nd for the Legends of Brands Hatch Super Prix meeting as well as a 5th place finish at the highly competitive Jaguar Challenge Silverstone Classic.
Basic specification overview:
Structure: Based on a steel tub and reinforced with Roll Centre cage providing a stiff and durable monocoque. Lightweight R.S. Alloy Panels to the rear end, boot, doors, roof and bonnet.
Engine: 3.8 litre Sigma Engineering built. Gas flowed wide angle head and alloy Crosswaite and Gardner block. Wet sump. 48 DCOE Webber carburetion. Lightweight starter and alternator. All invoicing on file as well as impressive dyno sheets.
Suspension: M & C Wilkinson dampers and suspension mods, front and rear torsion bars rifle drilled, bonze bushed wishbones and rear arms. 2 position, 1 inch roll bar.
Transmission: Close ratio straight cut gearbox (with heavy duty baulk rings) driven through a triple-plate Tilton clutch. Lightened flywheel. Steel-cased limited slip differential. Diff pump cooler with rad, and sparge to pinion.
Spares: Set of front and rear correct peg drive wheels. Various running ancillary items. Documented history and technical backup. Matching custom leather trimmed comp passenger seat.
XAS 885 is road registered and offered with a current FIA HTP, valid to 31st December 2025.
