Year of manufacture: 1952. MOT to Jul 2019. Built on the Daimler DB18 chassis, approximately 500 Barker Special Sports were built (Barker & Co were bodybuilders) between 1948 and 1952. The 3 seater drophead is built with a single sideways seat to the rear. This example has a Daimler Conquest Century engine and 3 speed automatic gearbox, assumed fitted by Daimler a few years after it was built (2 letters from Daimler support this). Engine: Vertical in line 6 cylinder engine of 2522cc capacity. Twin SU carburettors, 100bhp. Transmission: 3 speed Borg Warner 35 automatic gearbox. This car has been in the same family since approx. 1980. Originally restored 1980-1983, further work has been carried out over the years including further bodywork. In addition to routine maintenance, recent work has included adjusting valve clearances, replacement of big ends, mains, and thrust bearings. New timing chain, replaced king pins and trunion bushes. Steering box swapped, rear springs replaced. New pistons and rings fitted, cylinders honed, replacement of cylinder head gasket, plus other associated gaskets.
